U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson made the decision Thursday to sentence Roger Stone for 3 years and 4 months for lying and witness tampering, despite political bias with one of the jurors.

Following her ruling, House Intelligence Chairman, Adam Schiff (D-CA), took to Twitter saying that Stone lied to “cover-up for Trump”. Former South Carolina Republican Congressman, Trey Gowdy, however, reacted to Schiff’s comments on Fox News Thursday evening.

“He wasn’t prosecuted for standing up for the President. He was prosecuted for covering up for the President,” Judge Amy Berman Jackson said in her remarks in the courtroom on Thursday.

Rep. Adam Schiff took to Twitter after the judge’s ruling to claim: “Roger Stone was found guilty of lying to Congress and threatening a witness. He did it to cover up for Trump. His sentence is justified.”

“It should go without saying, but to pardon Stone when his crimes were committed to protect Trump would be a breathtaking act of corruption,” Schiff alleged.

Fox News host Ed Henry told Trey Gowdy that Judge Jackson had said, “He was prosecuted for covering up for the President”. Gowdy voiced his criticism of the allegation, specifically with Schiff’s tweet. Continued Below

“Schiff tweeted that Roger Stone lied to cover up for Donald Trump. I was in the room, Ed. I was as close to Roger Stone as Adam Schiff was,” Gowdy revealed.

“Unless he is a palm reader or had a ouija board, how does he know why Roger Stone lied? I don’t know why he lied. Most people lie to protect themselves, not others. I just know a jury found him guilty on 7 different counts, including lying to Congress. And there has to be a consequence for lying, but 9 years is too much,” he added. Video Below
